Spooky Saturdays – Museum of York County
Museum of York County’s Spooky Saturdays series offers family activities with a seasonal twist. Unlike the playful tone used for children’s programming, this design leans into a more atmospheric and mysterious aesthetic to appeal to a broader audience. I chose graphics that were suitable for older children by building a dark woodland scene layered with cobwebs, mist, and iconic figures such as a headless horseman and ghostly silhouette. The use of deep blues creates a nighttime setting, while lighter gradients and highlights draw the eye toward the text and central imagery.
As with other projects, this design was developed in multiple specs for social media distribution. Careful adjustments were made to text placement, hierarchy, and scaling to ensure readability while preserving the eerie mood across different formats. The final result delivers a cohesive, visually striking promotion that aligns with the seasonal theme while differentiating itself from the lighter, kid-friendly style of other museum programs.
