CIAO FROM MAROPATI

Italian travel postcard series

Seasonal Perspective

For this postcard, I wanted to go with the broader region of Calabria that Maropati is situated in. I loved all the natural elements in the reference photo and wanted to capture that sense of place and landscape.

I also wanted the postcard to feel tactile—like a heavy cotton or linen type paper. To add depth, I imagined how this scene could appear in another season, like autumn. I chose an autumn-colored border using greenery that is a common association with Italy, creating a seasonal shift that adds warmth and richness to the design.

Natural Elements

The design focuses on the natural beauty of the Calabrian landscape—rolling hills, rustic architecture, and the characteristic Mediterranean vegetation. By shifting the palette to autumn tones, the postcard takes on a different emotional quality while still honoring the location.

The botanical border frames the scene with traditional Italian greenery, creating a vintage postcard feel that suggests the tactile quality of textured paper stock. This approach connects the postcard to the traditions of European travel correspondence while adding a personal, seasonal touch.
